SINGAPORE: The LionsXII embraced the spirit of giving by helping out in Project Ihsan Ramadan on Saturday.

The initiative is organised by Singapore Muslim Women's Association (PPIS), a volunteer welfare organisation.

The defending Malaysian Super League champions distributed hampers to the underprivileged on Saturday as part of the association's efforts to reach out to its beneficiaries.

Five members of the team travelled to some of the homes of the association's beneficiaries in Eunos to distribute the hampers and bring a little cheer to them this Ramadan. The fasting month of Ramadan begins on Sunday.

The hampers consist of necessities such as grocery vouchers, syrup bottles, dates and two bottles of cookies.

This year, the association will distribute 600 hampers around Singapore.

Baihakki Khaizan, LionsXII defender, said: “When I looked at their houses, it reminded me of my house back then, it gave me a good flashback of the exact positioning of their beds and their kitchen and of course the way they sat around the house. I've always appreciated where I came from.”
