Malaysian King Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah had to cut short his three-day state visit to Singapore after news of the death of his brother on Wednesday.

SINGAPORE: Malaysian King Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah had to cut short his three-day state visit to Singapore after news of the death of his brother on Wednesday.

Tunku Annuar ibni Sultan Badlishah, the chairman of the Council of Regency of Kedah, died early Wednesday morning.

The king and his wife, who were on a state visit to Singapore, left upon receiving the news.

A statement from Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry said President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong have extended their deepest condolences to the king.
