Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for restraint from all parties after martial law is declared in Thailand.
SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is monitoring the developments in Thailand closely, following the declaration of martial law in Thailand today (May 20).
"As a friend of Thailand, we follow closely the latest developments in Thailand with concern. We hope that all parties involved will exercise restraint and work towards restoring peace and order in accordance with Thailand's constitutional process and laws," said an MFA spokesperson in response to media queries.
MFA has reiterated that Thailand is an important regional country and its stability is crucial to the region as a whole.
MFA hopes the situation in Thailand will return to normal as soon as possible.
