SINGAPORE: Bedok residents can now enjoy more health services at their doorstep, with the introduction of the town's second Community Health Centre and a Family Medicine Centre.
The centres, located just next to each other on Bedok North Street 1, will provide a wide range of primary healthcare services – from in-clinic minor surgeries, X-ray and physiotherapy – for patients with complex but stable chronic conditions, as well as those who require acute care.
The centres aim to support general practitioners by providing services which are not available at private clinics. They also hope to reduce the current load on polyclinics.
Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Advisor to East Coast GRC Grassroots Organisations said: "Bedok is a matured town. Many residents have lived here since 1997. As they get on with age, many elderly residents would require medical attention for their chronic ailments. While going to polyclinics and hospitals are options, receiving healthcare services at the new Family Medicine Centre at their doorstop will be much more convenient."
