More to be done at MCCY: Lawrence Wong

Mr Lawrence Wong, who will be promoted to a full minister on May 1, has said his ministry will continue to look at ways to enable Singaporeans to lead more fulfilling lives through the arts, sports and community involvement.

SINGAPORE: After having served as Acting Minister in the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) for about two years, Mr Lawrence Wong will be promoted to a full minister on May 1.

Since the ministry's inception in 2012, Mr Wong has been actively engaging the arts, heritage, sports, community and youth sectors.

Mr Wong said in a statement on Tuesday that his ministry will continue to look at ways to enable Singaporeans to lead more fulfilling lives through the arts, sports and community involvement.

He added that the ministry has rolled out new initiatives like making museum entry free for all Singaporeans, launching ActiveSG as a national movement for sports, and setting up the Youth Corps.

Mr Wong added that much more has to be done, and he looks forward to working with partners and stakeholders to make Singapore a distinctive and endearing home.
