SINGAPORE: Some 100 movie-goers were upset on Thursday evening after the screening of a movie premiere was cancelled at the last minute.
The 9pm show of Tamil movie "Veeram" at Rex Cinemas was called off at 8.50pm, apparently after some distribution issues.
The crowd, mostly foreign workers, began to gather outside the cinema and police officers were called in.
Police say they received a call at 9.02pm requesting for assistance at the cinema.
Another screening of the movie at just after midnight was also cancelled.
It was a similar situation at Golden Mile Tower when screenings of the same movie were also cancelled.
Rex Cinemas staff say those with tickets can claim a refund or watch the show at 11.45am on Friday at the theatre along MacKenzie Road.
Some patrons told Channel NewsAsia that they had skipped work to catch the movie which stars popular actor Ajith Kumar.
Police say the management and patrons resolved the matter amicably, and no further incident was reported.
Rex Cinemas is an Indian movie theatre located near Little India. It usually screens Tamil movies.
