Two men who were filmed fighting on an MRT train travelling between Khatib and Yishun were charged on Wednesday with affray.
SINGAPORE: Two men who were filmed fighting on an MRT train travelling between Khatib and Yio Chu Kang were on Wednesday charged with affray.
Under the Penal Code, where two or more persons disturb the public peace by fighting in a public place, they are said to “commit an affray”.
Teng Kok Yong, 40, and Ng Cheng Kiat, 50, are accused of committing the offence on January 11.
Teng's case will be mentioned again on February 19.
Ng's case will be heard again on January 29.
Both men are out on bail.
When they left the court, they were each accompanied by a woman.
The video of them fighting, which was taken on January 11, went viral on social media.
If guilty, each man faces a maximum penalty of a year's jail and a S$5,000 fine.
