National Service registration to start on Aug 19

Male Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents born between Jun 1 and Aug 31, 1997, are required to register for National Service from this month.

SINGAPORE: The registration for National Service will open on Aug 19, and eligible male Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents are to sign up either online or in person at the Central Manpower Base (CMPB).

The Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 14) that registration for male Singapore Citizens and PRs born between Jul 1, 1997, and Aug 31, 1997, will be conducted between Aug 19 and Sep 9 this year.

They may register online at the NS portal or in person at the CMPB at 3 Depot Road. Registrants should bring their NRIC or Birth Certificate, education certificates, citizenship certificates and other documents specified in the registration notice.

During registration, the male citizen or PR must pick a date for his medical screening between Dec 1, 2014 and Jan 19, 2015, at CMPB, between 8am and 1.30pm on the appointed date.

Those looking to postpone National Service to complete their studies in Singapore may apply online or in person, MINDEF said.
