SINGAPORE: Banking at POSB in the new year will come with better facilities, and even a new look.
New "Quick Serve" counters will now cater to customers with non-cash transactions; they will no longer have to queue at the general enquiries station, or at teller counters.
Queues at teller counters will be even shorter with new "Teller Assist Units", which can count, deposit, and dispense cash on its own.
The units replace cash drawers where tellers had to count cash manually.
Overall, transaction times are expected to be cut by up to two minutes.
Plans are in place to expand the services to other POSB branches from the current four at White Sands, Jurong Point, ITE College Central, and Ang Mo Kio.
Derrick Goh, managing director and head at POSB, said: "What we've seen is that customers are being served a lot quicker.
"The crowd in the branch… has decreased significantly, so it's a lot more comfortable for our customers compared to previous years where the queues float all the way to the door and the entrance."
Customers will be able to view the queues in any branch via a feature to be launched through the POSB Mobile Application.
This will help customers make appropriate choices as to where and when they can have their services attended to.
Customers will also be greeted by staff in their new uniform, the 10th design in over 30 years.
The traditional blue and yellow is still in, but the POSB logo will now feature on the sleeves and collars in a fresh new look.
