New NParks CEO appointed

The National Parks Board (NParks) will have a new CEO from February 17. Mr Kenneth Er Boon Hwee, currently chief operating officer of Gardens by the Bay, will take over the top job at NParks from Mr Poon Hong Yuen.

SINGAPORE: The National Parks Board (NParks) will have a new CEO from February 17. Mr Kenneth Er Boon Hwee, currently chief operating officer of Gardens by the Bay, will take over the top job at NParks from Mr Poon Hong Yuen.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of National Development said Mr Poon is moving on to a new appointment with the Law Ministry as Deputy Secretary (Law) (Designate).

It said that as NParks CEO since 2010, Mr Poon has played a key role in implementing major green infrastructural programmes, including the development of the Destination Parks and the Round Island Route.

He also played a key role in the bid for Singapore Botanic Gardens to be nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The statement described Mr Er as an NParks professional with extensive experience. He served as Assistant CEO of NParks before he took up his current appointment with Gardens by the Bay.

He was a key member of the leadership team responsible for developing the gardens as a horticultural edu-tainment attraction.

He also played a critical role incorporating technologies on sustainable energy and water resources into the design and running of the conservatories and gardens.
