Ng Ser Miang steps down as NTUC FairPrice Chairman

After nine years at the helm, Ng Ser Miang retires as Chairman of NTUC FairPrice. He will be succeeded by Deputy Chairman of NTUC Enterprise Bobby Chin.

SINGAPORE: Mr Ng Ser Miang has retired as Chairman of NTUC FairPrice. Mr Ng did not seek re-election at NTUC FairPrice Co-operative's 32nd Annual General Meeting, after nine years at the helm.

Mr Bobby Chin, current board member of NTUC FairPrice will succeed him.

A statement from NTUC on Thursday (June 26) said: "During his term as Chairman, Mr Ng led FairPrice to grow from strength to strength while continuously upholding its social mission to moderate the cost of living."

Mr Ng launched the FairPrice Foundation in 2008. Since then, FairPrice has donated S$76 million to the foundation to help the poor and needy, to encourage nation and community bonding, and to advance workers' welfare.

Mr Ng's successor, Mr Chin serves as a member of the Council of Presidential Advisors. He is no stranger to the labour movement as he also sits on the Board of Singapore Labour Foundation and is the Deputy Chairman of NTUC Enterprise.
