No train service disruption at Redhill station on Friday night: SMRT

SMRT has clarified there was no service disruption at Redhill MRT station on Friday night.

SINGAPORE: SMRT has clarified there was no service disruption at Redhill MRT station on Friday night.

Responding to media queries on Saturday, the public transport operator said all passengers were indeed asked to disembark from a train that arrived at the station at about 11.06pm.

This came after the train doors had trouble closing as a foreign object was jamming a door.

The empty train left the station at 11.14pm.

The next train arrived at 11.17pm and left with passengers from the station a minute later.

SMRT said the object jamming the door of the first train could have dislodged by the time the train reached the depot.

During inspection, the door could close.

But as a safety precaution, SMRT is getting the doors checked thoroughly before putting the train back into service.
