SINGAPORE: National University of Singapore (NUS) President Tan Chorh Chuan has been appointed chair of the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF).
The two-year appointment, starting this year, comes from the World Economic Forum (WEF).
An NUS statement said Professor Tan succeeds Yale University's President Emeritus Richard Levin in the position.
Comprising the heads of 25 prominent universities, GULF was set up by WEF in 2006 as a platform for university leaders to engage in high-level dialogue with other sectors, including the business community.
It's also meant to foster collaboration between universities.
GULF members include the University of Cambridge, ETH Zurich, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, Peking University, Princeton University, Stanford University, University of Tokyo and Yale University.
NUS is one of six universities from Asia in the group.
