The National University of Singapore will confer the Outstanding Service Award to former Senior Minister S Jayakumar at the NUS University Awards on Friday.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) will confer the Outstanding Service Award to former Senior Minister S Jayakumar at the NUS University Awards on Friday (9 May).
Professor Jayakumar is also the chairman of the NUS Faculty of Law Advisory Council and the International Advisory Panel of the Centre for International Law.
The annual Awards recognise and honour individuals who have contributed to the university's mission through their achievements in education, research and service to Singapore and the community.
Said NUS President Professor Tan Chorh Chuan: "We are truly proud of our 2014 University Award recipients.
"They stand out as role models of excellence who have made outstanding contributions and served the university and society with passion, energy and creativity in their respective fields of expertise.
"Collectively, their achievements will inspire us to scale new heights as NUS strives to be an even more distinguished academic institution.
"I extend my heartiest congratulations to all our award recipients."
The Outstanding Service Award will also be presented to Professor Victor J Dzau, a member of the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore governing board.
Recognised as an international health expert, he was the initial proponent and force behind the creation of the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore and was the signatory to the historic agreement between Duke and NUS.
Other awards to be given out on Friday are the Emeritus Professorship, Outstanding Educator Award, Outstanding Researcher Award and Young Researcher Award.
