SINGAPORE: The People's Action Party on Wednesday commended the "genuine and sincere" efforts of the team behind a video released by its youth wing, which went viral over the past week.
Titled "Re-ignite the Passion of Servant Leadership", the video featured members from Young PAP branches across the island.
It was uploaded to the PeopleActionPartyHQ's YouTube page on April 23, and subsequently drew flak from netizens, who criticised the participants' diction and the editing of the video.
In response, the ruling party put out a post on its Facebook page on Wednesday in which it said: "We did not expect that our humble (raw and unpolished) in-house production would go viral like this.
"We are proud of our (Young PAP) folks, and what they have been doing on the ground; working hard to serve the people.
"Their effort was genuine and sincere."
It also posted a screenshot of posts by several PAP MPs, including Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck and MP Baey Yam Keng commending the young activists' efforts.
As of 2.45pm on Wednesday, the video has received about 53,000 views with 22 likes and 660 dislikes.
