SINGAPORE: To celebrate Singapore's 49th birthday this year, more than 13,000 youths from the People's Association Youth Movement (PAYM) will organise over 141 projects from July 5 to August 31.

Activities include arts and culture, sports, environment and community service projects, to engage fellow youths and community.

The PAYM Loves Red campaign is aimed at encouraging stronger youth involvement at National Day Celebrations and to instil a sense of national pride and belonging amongst youths through youths.

At the launch of the campaign on Saturday morning, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean flagged off a fleet of 49 cars that will distribute mini flags and side mirror covers for vehicles to residents in the Pasir Ris - Punggol GRC.

The aim is to encourage Singaporeans to fly the state flag as part of the PA Fly Our Flag campaign

MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Teo Chee Hean said: "I am heartened to see that our youths in Pasir Ris-Punggol have decided to honour our pioneers as their way to celebrate National Day.

"Through closer interactions between our pioneers and our youths, the values of our pioneers -- including perseverance, determination, teamwork and care for others -- will be passed down to the next generation of Singaporeans."
