PM Lee to attend ASEAN Summit in Myanmar

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on the weekend of May 10 to 11 to attend the 24th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

SINGAPORE: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on the weekend of May 10 to 11 to attend the 24th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

He will be accompanied by Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang, Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam, and senior government officials.

ASEAN leaders will discuss progress made towards establishing an ASEAN Community by 2015, which is expected to improve business and people-to-people links within the region.

Leaders will also exchange views on regional and international issues.

On the agenda as well are meetings with civil society groups and youths from the region.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be Acting Prime Minister for the period of May 10 to 11.
