Police arrest Camry driver over hit-and-run accident on AYE

The incident came to light following several videos uploaded to social media, showing a Toyota Camry slamming into a motorcycle while driving recklessly on the Ayer Rajah Expressway.

SINGAPORE: A 63-year-old man has been arrested in connection to an incident where a car appeared to have hit a motorcyclist while driving recklessly along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE).

In response to media queries on Monday (Jun 20), police confirmed that he had been arrested for rash act causing hurt. Channel NewsAsia understands that he is the driver of the car.

The incident came to light after several videos were uploaded to social media, showing a Toyota Camry with the license plate SKA1713J switching lanes erratically before slamming into a motorcycle and speeding off as the motorcyclist and pillion rider fell over.

One video, uploaded by Facebook user Zufar Khan Ismail Khan on Thursday afternoon, had garnered more than 6,000 shares and 142,000 views. The video was posted on Facebook community pages Roads.sg and Beh Chia Lor as well.

Investigations are ongoing, added police on Monday.
