SINGAPORE: The public can expect a range of pre-opening events and activities at the refurbished Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall later this year.
The National Arts Council (NAC) said activities and events at the new venues are scheduled for October onwards, leading up to the official opening in the first quarter of next year.
Both Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall are expected to be fully operational by 2015.
The two venues are returning to public life after a three-year refurbishment costing S$158 million.
In a statement on Monday, NAC said it is working closely with The Esplanade Co Ltd (TECL) as they gear up for the re-opening of the concert hall and theatre.
Their work includes building capability in technical theatre, venue and production management.
Both Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall will also function as for-hire performing venues, which will be managed and operated by TECL.
This is in addition to Victoria Concert Hall serving as home to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
NAC said booking of the venues will begin by April 2014.
It added that the existing theatre and concert hall will transform into intimate spaces, designed to provide an engaging experience between audience and performers.
Visitors can also expect improved acoustics at the venues.
