President Tony Tan Keng Yam has arrived in Malacca on the third and final day of his state visit to Malaysia.
SINGAPORE: President Tony Tan Keng Yam has arrived in Malacca on the third and final day of his state visit to Malaysia.
Dr Tan and his delegation drove to Malacca from Kuala Lumpur on Friday morning.
They were received by the Governor of Malacca Mohd Khalil Yaakob, as well as Chief Minister Idris Haron.
The three leaders then had a joint meeting at the Istana Malacca.
Dr Tan, who is Peranakan, is scheduled to visit several historical sites in the city known for its Peranakan culture.
They include two heritage townhouses belonging to the National University of Singapore’s architecture department.
The Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre for Asian Architectural and Urban Heritage was restored over two years by a team of academics and students from the National University of Singapore.
Today, it serves as a field school for hands-on training and study of urban conservation.
