SINGAPORE: A Community Safety and Security Programme for foreign workers has been launched at Kranji Lodge One Dormitory.

The aim of the programme is to educate foreign workers on crime prevention, and enhance safety and security in the dormitory.

It is supported by the dormitory operators, employers of the foreign workers, Ministry of Manpower, National Environment Agency, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Customs.

30 foreign workers were appointed as Foreign Worker Ambassadors at the launch on Saturday morning.

The ambassadors serve as informal leaders among the foreign workers, helping to spread crime prevention messages to their fellow workers and influencing them to adopt good crime prevention habits.

They went through a half-day training programme by the Police.

They were taught crime prevention measures, like how to look out for suspicious characters and also how to reach out to their fellow workers to promote safety and security awareness.
