SINGAPORE: Queen Elizabeth II of England has sent her congratulations to Singapore on Queenstown's 60th anniversary.
The area in western Singapore celebrated its anniversary with a concert graced by a star-studded cast on Saturday.
Social and Family Development Minister Chan Chun Sing addressed Queenstown residents at the event, saying what makes Queenstown and Singapore special is the spirit to build bonds as a community.
He said the government's commitment to provide quality housing has remained constant.
Mr Chan noted that the challenges today, however, are different, compared to when first-generation housing was provided, with higher expectations these days.
He said: "Our commitment to provide affordable and quality housing for Singaporeans has not changed and will not change. Our commitment to always balance heritage while providing space for the future generation to build their dreams will not change."
