SINGAPORE: February 11 marks Safer Internet Day (SID), a public awareness initiative to promote safe and responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people.

The global theme for SID 2014 is "Let's Create a Better Internet Together".

Over 100 countries, including Singapore, are participating in SID 2014.

At West View Primary School, the iZ HERO Challenge programme was launched on Tuesday to teach children about cyber bullying in a fun and engaging way -- like a mission-based lesson, which includes animation as teaching tools.

The Challenge programme is one of a series of activities lined up by Media Literacy Council to mark the day.
