S'pore signs leadership & management training MOU with ICAO

Singapore and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in leadership and management training.

SINGAPORE: Singapore and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in leadership and management training.

The document was inked on Sunday evening between Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew and ICAO President Dr Olumuyiwas Benard Aliu at the Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership Summit dinner.

Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong delivered the keynote address, saying such cooperation is vital as Singapore helps states increase their regulatory capabilities.

Mr Goh said: "Asia will play a larger role in international aviation policy and in shaping global norms, from climate change to aircraft manufacturing.

"Indeed, it is in Asia's interests to do more to unlock the promise of aviation and benefits of air travel. But it will not be possible unless we address key potential challenges to aviation growth. I will briefly highlight three of them - infrastructure, skilled manpower and regulatory barriers."
