Sam Tan to reaffirm strong cultural ties during France visit

Singapore's Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Sam Tan will be in France from June 15 to 19 where he will reaffirm the strong cultural relations between the two countries.

SINGAPORE: Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Sam Tan will be visiting the French cities of Paris and Lyon from June 15 to 19 where he will reaffirm the strong cultural relations between the two countries.

During his visit, Mr Tan will host an appreciation reception for partners who have lent their support to the three-month-long Singapour en France – le festival. The festival toured different parts of France, with more than 250 artists sharing and showcasing Singapore’s arts and heritage.

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra Children’s Choir will perform at the reception, ahead of their debut concert at the Philharmonie de Paris.

Mr Tan will also officiate the opening of DesignSingapore Council’s exhibition "1000 Singapores: Eight Points of the Compact City" at the Cite de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine.

In addition, he will witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Gallery Singapore and Centre Pompidou.

Following that, he will meet students from Temasek Polytechnic who will be cooking signature Singapore hawker dishes at the Saveurs de Singapour sur les Berges de Seine, a Singapore street hawker event that is part of the Singapour en France – le festival.

Mr Tan, who is also the Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office, will be accompanied on his visit to France by officials from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, the National Heritage Board, the National Arts Council and the National Gallery Singapore.
