SEA Games gold medallist wins MediaCorp Hong Bao Run

Some 5,000 participants took part in the inaugural MediaCorp Hong Bao Run held at Nicoll Highway on Sunday morning. Seasoned runner and SEA Games marathon winner Mok Ying Ren took home the men's title, finishing the eight-kilometre race in 26 minutes and 42 seconds.

SINGAPORE: Some 5,000 participants took part in the inaugural MediaCorp Hong Bao Run held at Nicoll Highway on Sunday morning.

Seasoned runner and SEA Games marathon winner Mok Ying Ren took home the men's title, finishing the eight-kilometre race in 26 minutes and 42 seconds.

The women's category winner was Suzanne Walsham, clocking 28 minutes and 34 seconds.

She recently won the Empire State Building Run-up for the fifth time.

They each won S$2,888 in cash.

The biggest winner was 56-year-old See Hak Loo.

He "ran away" with an S$88,888 hong bao in the lucky draw.

Mr See said: "I am happy and surprised too, I didn't expect to win the grand prize. I took part in this run because it's a healthy activity.

“I am considering donating some of it to charity and also buy a meal for my friends and family." 

Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck flagged off the race and also ran the full eight kilometres.

Also present were MediaCorp CEO Shaun Seow and Deputy CEO Chang Long Jong.
