The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said the barge had capsized in Singapore waters about three nautical miles west of Horsburgh Lighthouse on Thursday morning.
The six crew members rescued on Thursday by the Police Coast Guard (PCG) are well and did not require medical attention.
They reported that a total of 11 crew members, all Chinese nationals, were onboard the barge.
The Chinese Embassy in Singapore has also been kept informed.
MPA has been co-ordinating the search and rescue operations.
As of 5pm on Friday, the ongoing operations involved a total of two RSAF Super Puma helicopters, two RSN patrol vessels, two PCG patrol craft, divers and a diving support vessel from Resolve Salvage & Fire (Asia), and 60 passing commercial vessels.
