Singapore and India navies conduct joint-maritime exercise

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Indian Navy to conduct their annual maritime bilateral exercise from now till next Tuesday (May 27).

SINGAPORE: The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Indian Navy are conducting their annual maritime bilateral exercise from now till next Tuesday (May 27).

The opening ceremony for the Singapore-Indian Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) was held on Thursday (May 22) in Port Blair.

The exercise at the Andaman Sea involves surface and air assets from both navies.

The RSN is deploying a missile corvette (RSS Valour) and a patrol vessel (RSS Independence).

India's navy is participating with two corvettes - the INS Karmuk and INS Kuthar, a naval helicopter and a maritime patrol aircraft.

Said the RSN's Colonel Alan Goh who co-officiated the ceremony: "This exercise will bolster the strong bonds between our navies by enhancing interoperability and mutual understanding."
