Singapore, Qatar reaffirm warm & friendly ties

Singapore's Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam on Sunday called on the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, where they reaffirmed the warm and friendly ties between the two countries.

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam on Sunday called on the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, where they reaffirmed the warm and friendly ties between the two countries.

Mr Shanmugam's introductory visit to Qatar is part of Singapore's efforts to strengthen relations with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council and also part of a regional tour that would include Iran.

Both he and the emir agreed that the two countries should continue to look for ways to further enhance bilateral ties.

Mr Shanmugam conveyed an invitation to Sheikh Tamim on behalf of President Tony Tan Keng Yam for the emir to make a state visit to Singapore.

He also met Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah.
