Singapore Sports Hub gears up for busy weekend

The Singapore Sports Hub will host a bumper crop of activities this weekend, and arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Sports Hub will host a bumper crop of activities this weekend, and arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

Those hoping to park at the new National Stadium have had to pre-book tickets online, and nearly 70 per cent of available tickets have been sold since the scheme was launched on Monday.

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the National Stadium on Saturday while K-Pop group 2NE1 will be at the nearby Singapore Indoor Stadium.

There's also the Community Open House, which ends on Sunday.

Sports Hub's management is anticipating a large crowd on Saturday.

It said it has "extensive plans" in place, in partnership with agencies such as the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to help manage traffic on the roads and within the facility.

"We have activated Auxiliary Police Officers, Crowd Safety Officers and ushers to be situated in and around the entire campus to ensure the public have a helping hand when needed," said Sports Hub Deputy Director, Mr Poh Yu Khing.

"To further aid crowd management, we have erected signage throughout the whole campus to help direct people to each location on site, and developed detailed queue management plans to safely regulate the flow of foot traffic to prevent overcrowding."

The Sports Hub said it has also disseminated travel advisories through print, broadcast and online channels.

Visitors can view them at the Sports Hub website.

There will also be live travel updates via Twitter @SportsHubUpdate.
