SingTel said discussions on acquiring the broadcast rights to the 2014 FIFA World Cup are ongoing with the rights holder.
SINGAPORE: Football fans in Singapore will have to wait a little longer to see if they will be able to catch the 2014 FIFA World Cup on mio TV.
SingTel, which operates the Pay-TV service, said discussions on acquiring the broadcast rights to the mega competition are ongoing with the rights holder.
This was announced on the sidelines of a briefing that laid out SingTel's third quarter earnings.
The Media Development Authority (MDA) is also being kept in the loop of developments.
The company added that it is aware of the benefits that come with acquiring the rights, but nothing significant is in the pipeline at the moment.
The company shared the broadcast rights with rival StarHub for the 2010 World Cup.
