SINGAPORE: The Sports Hub opened its doors to the public on Friday and thousands of people turned up to get a first peek at the facilities.
The public was taken on a tour of the Sports Hub during its open house and some tried their hand at various sports like basketball.
About 3,000 people also went on a walk-a-jog around the Sports Hub.
A laser and fireworks display capped off the evening and, by all accounts, Singaporeans were impressed with what they saw.
One said: "I have seen it being built for the last two years, it's just amazing."
The Sports Hub will have another open house on Saturday, and those who wish to park their cars at the National Stadium will have to buy pre-paid parking tickets.
The scheme was launched on Monday and as of Thursday, 68 per cent of the 1,200 available lots has been sold.
The authorities are anticipating large crowds on Saturday as there will be two concerts, one at the National Stadium and the other at the Indoor Stadium.
