The closure is to facilitate the development of a commercial site at Paya Lebar Road under the Government Land Sales programme.
SINGAPORE: A stretch of Eunos Road 8 will be permanently closed from July 30 to facilitate the development of a commercial site at Paya Lebar Road under the Government Land Sales (GLS) programme.
With the change, motorists will not be able to use Eunos Road 8 as a through road to Sims Avenue. Instead, they can use Eunos Road 5 to connect to Sims Avenue.
Eunos Road 8 will continue to serve existing and future developments in the area, such as Singapore Post Centre, Paya Lebar Square and Paya Lebar MRT Station. Motorists from Eunos Industrial Estate may also continue using the road to connect to Eunos Avenue 5 and Eunos Avenue 4.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has said notices will be put up in the affected areas to guide motorists and commuters. Motorists can also call the LTA hotline at 1800-CALL LTA (2255-582) if they have queries on the changes.
Last month, the Government announced it was releasing a commercial site – comprising two plots of land – at Paya Lebar for sale on the confirmed list of the GLS. The two will be connected via a subterranean space under Sims Avenue, and the site is aimed at facilitating the development of Paya Lebar Central into a commercial node.
