Students get to learn Chinese through comics

A comic book version of MediaCorp TV drama "The Journey" has been launched to help primary and secondary school students learn Chinese and about Singapore's early years at the same time.

SINGAPORE: Singapore students now have another way to learn Chinese and about Singapore's early years at the same time, and they will do so through comics.

A comic book version of MediaCorp TV drama “The Journey” targets primary and secondary school students.

Like the drama, it tells the story of Singapore's first-generation Chinese immigrants.

Launched on Wednesday at a roadshow at Nanyang Primary School, the project is supported by the Education Ministry's Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning.

Jesslyn Wong, MediaCorp’s assistant vice president for content distribution, said: "We hope to encourage and inspire the children to read because then they will see the story (and) the characters all come alive within the book itself."
