Suspect arrested for loansharking activities

Crime Strike Force officers from Woodlands East Neighbourhood Police Centre arrested the man in the vicinity of Block 501 Bishan Street 11.

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

Crime Strike Force officers from Woodlands East Neighbourhood Police Centre arrested the man in the vicinity of Block 501 Bishan Street 11 on Friday evening.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have assisted a loanshark syndicate by procuring Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and Personal Identification Numbers and using them to carry out unlicensed moneylending activities.

Upon his arrest, one mobile phone, four ATM cards, one i-banking token and S$80 were seized.

Investigations against the suspect are on-going.
