Table Tennis: Fans turn up at airport to welcome home paddlers

SINGAPORE: Fans turned up at Changi Airport's Terminal 3 on Tuesday evening to welcome home Singapore's table tennis players.

The paddlers were in Tokyo, Japan, for the World Team Table Tennis Championships.

Singapore women's team won the bronze medal, while the men's team achieved their best finish -- a joint fifth -- in the tournament.

Isabelle Li, who is a member of the women's team, said: "I think this time it wasn't just the mental toughness that I was lacking in, but also the skills that really decided on the outcome of the game. I feel that it was really the experience of knowing how to adapt and to change my game, especially during close games."
