SINGAPORE: Over 500 residents of Marine Parade, and students from schools in the area, got into the Singapore Book of Records on Sunday (June 22) for the most number of hand-painted and decorated umbrellas.

The residents and students, along with community artists Faizal Amir and Elizabeth Ng, set the record after using 1,000 umbrellas to form an art installation at the Marine Parade Community Club.

The project, started in mid-March, is part of the PAssionArts Festival.

It is spearheaded by the People's Association Community Arts and Culture Clubs, and supported by partners including schools, art organisations and grassroots organisations.
