US Senator Cardin calls on PM Lee

US Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Chairman, Senator Benjamin Cardin called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on Saturday.

SINGAPORE: US Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Chairman, Senator Benjamin Cardin called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on Saturday.

During the meeting, PM Lee welcomed the US' commitment to continue deepening its engagement of the Asia-Pacific region.

PM Lee and Senator Cardin also exchanged views on strategic geopolitical developments, including the progress of the ongoing Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.

They also affirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Singapore and the US.

Senator Cardin met with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam as well.

Among others, they discussed international and regional developments, including the importance of the successful conclusion of the TPP.

They also underscored the importance of US engagement and sustained presence in the Asia-Pacific.

Senator Cardin is in Singapore for the Shangri-La Dialogue.
