Mdm Mamata Banerjee is hoping to seek foreign investment for the east Indian state.
SINGAPORE: The Chief Minister of West Bengal in India, Mdm Mamata Banerjee, is in Singapore for a five-day official visit.
Mdm Banerjee, who arrived the day before, met Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on Tuesday (Aug 19).
This is her first overseas visit after taking office in 2011, and she is hoping to seek foreign investment in the east Indian state.
Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said Mdm Banerjee will deliver a keynote address at the West Bengal Business Forum on Wednesday. The forum is organised by the Singapore Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, with the partnership of IE Singapore, the Confederation of Indian Industry, and the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
