SINGAPORE: Ghostbusters' fans gathered at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on Sunday evening (Jun 12) for a glimpse of some of those behind the all-female reboot of the 1984 supernatural horror comedy. Among those that graced the red-carpet event were star Melissa McCarthy and director Paul Feig.

The new Ghostbusters movie will make its long-awaited debut next month, thirty years after the much-adored original franchise started a phenomenon. Director Feig, best known for films like Bridesmaids and Spy, is set to bring a new take to the supernatural comedy, along with McCarthy, Saturday Night Live alums Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth.

Sunday's event was part of a week of promotional activity in Singapore being held by Sony Pictures for some of its newest blockbusters, which will include publicity events for Inferno, the latest adaption of a Dan Brown bestseller with Tom Hanks, and The Magnificent Seven, a remake of the classic 1960s western.

A new Guinness World Record for the “largest gathering of people dressed as ghosts at a single venue” was also set at MBS, as part of Sunday's Ghostbusters extravaganza.
“Seeing this many people 'get their ghost on' and set a Guinness World Record is a true testament to this amazing franchise that Dan, Harold and Ivan created 32 years ago," Feig said. "Ghostbusters of the world, gear up!”
