SINGAPORE: Construction of Springleaf MRT station has officially begun following a ground-breaking ceremony on Saturday (Aug 16). Springleaf station is on the Thomson-East Coast Line and is expected to be completed by 2020.

The area's MP, Dr Lee Bee Wah, said the station would bring convenience to residents in the area (Springside, Springleaf, Heeton, Thong Soon, Meng Suan and Mandai Estates). Residents can also travel to the Caldecott station by 2020, and to the Gardens by the Bay in 2021.

Dr Lee also urged residents to be patient while construction is in progress. She assured residents she will personally monitor the progress of construction to ensure the station is completed on time.

"While the construction works are being carried out, some inconvenience may be expected, especially for such a project so huge and complex. Each time you feel the inconvenience, just think of how much the Springleaf MRT station will benefit you and the goodness it will bring when it is completed," she said.
