Construction workers find a World War II hand grenade hidden in a tree near Outram Park MRT station.
SINGAPORE: They were drawn to the sight of a heart-shaped tree stump, but what they found next, was nothing short of heart-pounding. A few construction workers were resting near a tree close to Outram Park MRT station on Thursday (June 5) when they noticed this "heart".

On closer inspection, they discovered a war relic, nestled in a crevice between two branches.

A post on the Singapore Army Facebook page says the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) called in to investigate, found the device to be a World War II hand grenade. With a police security cordon in place, they worked through the night to dispose of the bomb.

The war relic was successfully disposed of at 12:45am on Friday.
