Parliament on Monday (May 11) passed laws to regulate third-party taxi booking apps and drones, as well strengthening MAS' supervisory powers against money laundering & terrorism financing. Six Bills were also introduced, including the Insurance (Amendment) Bill and the Bankruptcy (Amendment) Bill.
Healthcare was the focus of Tuesday's parliament session. The government wants to help people change their mindsets about growing old. To achieve this, the government will embark on an action plan to help Singaporeans age successfully. MP Dr Janil Puthucheary, earned an applause in Parliament for his analogy on the politics of healthcare. He also took issue with NCMP Gerald Giam's comments on MediShield Life. MP Denise Phua called for a review of the elected presidency scheme and urged the public service to improve the way it selects its leaders.
