On Wednesday (Nov 5), ministers gave replies to MPs' questions on postal rates, music in public places, hawker food prices and mental illness, among other issues. The House also passed the Animals & Birds (Amendment) Bill. During the 3-day sitting, Parliament debated and passed a total of 10 Bills.
Healthcare was the focus of Tuesday's parliament session. The government wants to help people change their mindsets about growing old. To achieve this, the government will embark on an action plan to help Singaporeans age successfully. MP Dr Janil Puthucheary, earned an applause in Parliament for his analogy on the politics of healthcare. He also took issue with NCMP Gerald Giam's comments on MediShield Life. MP Denise Phua called for a review of the elected presidency scheme and urged the public service to improve the way it selects its leaders.
