Parliament will sit at 1.30pm on Monday (Jan 25) to debate the President’s address. This will be the first sitting of Parliament after various ministries issued their addenda in response to Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam’s speech on Jan 15.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong joined in the debate on the President's Address in Parliament on Wednesday. PM Lee spoke about the progress the government has made over the past three years in the areas of housing, transport, population issues and in strengthening social safety nets. He also laid out the government's agenda for the remainder of its term. Mr Lee also laid out his definition of "constructive politics" and took aim at Workers' Party MP Low Thia Khiang's earlier speech on politics in Parliament. This sparked a feisty exchange between PM Lee and Mr Low.
