About 3,300 participants from 10 countries will compete in these events from Dec 3 to 9 next year.

SINGAPORE: There will be 15 sports contested at the ASEAN Para Games 2015, which Singapore will host next December.

The Singapore ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee (SAPGOC) announced on Friday (Aug 29) that this is the most number of games offered at the Games. The sports offered include archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, five-a-side football, seven-a-side football, powerlifting, sailing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, goalball, tenpin bowling, wheelchair basketball, and chess.

About 3,300 participants from 10 countries will compete in these events from Dec 3 to 9 next year. Marina Bay Sands will host the Games Village, using 1,500 rooms to house the athletes and officials, the SAPGOC added.

In preparation for the Games, the organising committee will stage a series of test events from March next year.

According to Mr Lim Teck Yin, chairman of the executive committee of the ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee, some polytechnics have also stepped forward to assist with providing equipment for the para athletes.

He said: "Whether it is a boccia ramp or prosthetics for Jason (table tennis player). I think these are some of the expressions of interest we have received and we have been very thankful for that."
