SINGAPORE: Singapore Bowling Federation's president, Jessie Phua, has been named Chef de Mission for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) announced her appointment on Thursday at a roadshow for the Asian Games at the Mandarin Ballroom.
Acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin, who is also an executive committee member of the SNOC, graced the ceremony.
National bowler Jazreel Tan was appointed the Singapore Goodwill Ambassador for the Games.
Singapore is one of six cities chosen to host the Games' roadshow, which aims to generate support for the Games among athletes, sporting bodies and members of the public.
Mrs Phua praised the South Korean organising team for their preparations for the Games so far, and added that Singaporean athletes can learn a lot from their South Korean counterparts.
She said: "Well, the reality is that team Korea is ready whether it is home ground or not.
"As athletes, they have always been competitive and that is the kind of spirit and mentality that I really wish that team Singapore will try to emulate, because they are incredible role models, something that Singapore athletes should aspire to be."
