Commonwealth Games: Mixed results for Singapore shooters

Jasmine Ser and Martina Veloso finished just outside the medal places in the women's 10m air rifle finals.

SINGAPORE: In Commonwealth Games shooting action, Singapore's Gai Bin finished 11th out of 30 competitiors with a score of 567 at the men's 10m air pistol event. Fellow Singaporean Lim Swee Hon finished 16th with a score of 562.

Both did not qualify for the finals.

But the lady shooters fared better in their events. 14-year-old rising star Martina Veloso finished second out of 26 competitors with a score of 414.9, while compatriot Jasmine Ser finished fifth with a score of 413.1 in the women's 10m air rifle qualifiers.

Both advanced to the finals. However, Jasmine (163.2) and Martina (143.4) finished in 4th and 5th position respectively in the finals, outside the medal places.

In the women's 25m pistol competition, Teo Shun Xie topped the qualifying rounds with a score of 582. The women's 25m pistol final will be held later on Saturday night.
