Commonwealth Games: Singapore push forward in swimming

Joseph Schooling, Quah Zheng Wen and Nur Marina Chan advanced to their respective semi-finals, while the 4x200m men's freestyle relay team pushed through to the finals.

GLASGOW: In swimming, three Singaporeans advanced to the semi-finals of their events.

19-year-old Joseph Schooling clocked 53.58 seconds in the 100m butterfly heats to qualify for the semi-final. Joining him is another Singaporean Quah Zheng Wen - who finished with a time of 54.46 seconds.

In the women's 100m freestyle heats, Nur Marina Chan's time of 57.37 seconds also earned her a spot in the semi-final.

Singapore's 4x200m men's freestyle relay team pushed through to the finals at the Commonwealth Games.

The quartet of Joseph Schooling, Danny Yeoh, Quah Zheng Wen and and Clement Lim clocked 7 minutes, 26 point 96 seconds to finish seventh in the heats.
