Dipna Lim-Prasad pulls out of Glasgow Commonwealth Games

The female runner is medically fit, but withdrew from the Games upon consultation with the Singapore Athletic Association and her coach, to minimise the risk of re-injury. Tyra Summer Ree will take her place.

SINGAPORE: Dipna Lim-Prasad will not be taking part in this year's Glasgow Commonwealth Games to minimise the risk of injury. Her place in the athletics team will go to Tyra Summer Ree, according to the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC).

In a statement on Tuesday (July 15), SNOC said Lim-Prasad withdrew from the 200m and 4x100m Women Relay events despite being medically fit. The decision came after consultation with the Singapore Athletics Association (SAA) and her coach, and she will focus on the 2014 Asian Games and 2015 SEA Games instead.

Her place in both events went to Tyra Summer Ree after the Commonwealth Games Federation approved of the replacement, the SNOC added.

The Singapore contingent will begin departing for Glasgow, Scotland from July 19. The swimming, shooting and table tennis teams have already left the country for pre-Games training, it said.
