SINGAPORE: Manchester United star Wayne Rooney did it in March and Jonjo Shelvey of Swansea City bettered it last month.

Now, British newspaper The Daily Mirror has hailed Fabian Kwok's spectacular goal from the halfway line on Thursday as the greatest of them all.

The Geylang International midfielder scored the stunner during an S-League game against Albirex Niigata.

Pouncing on Albirex goalkeeper Kazuki Kishigami's clearance, Kwok met it first time with a delicious volley that flew right in.

Video of the goal has since gone viral.

Kwok said he scored a similar goal for SAFSA during the 2012 National Football League season.

But his latest effort was his first goal for Geylang this year. He scored a solitary goal in 2013, his first year with the club.

Kwok said: "Firstly I was also very shocked myself, I wasn't really expecting it to go in. So when the ball was coming towards me I knew what I wanted to do. After that, luck took place and it went in.

“People will watch the video time and time again, and they would enjoy it, but I am pretty sure they won't put any pressure on me to better that goal."
